UNSAFE STREETS: Himachal Pradesh BJP Accuses Congress of Ignoring Women's Safety

The Himachal Pradesh BJP Mahila Morcha accused the Congress-led state government under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of ignoring increasing crimes against women. Vandana Yogi Singh criticized the government for its ineffective response to molestation, rape, and murder cases, branding the state as a 'territory of goons.'

The Himachal Pradesh BJP Mahila Morcha has voiced strong accusations against the Congress-led state government, labeling it ineffective in addressing the surge in crimes against women. According to Vandana Yogi Singh, the BJP Women's Wing's chief, the state has evolved into a 'territory of goons.' She condemned the ruling administration for remaining silent on numerous incidents of molestation, rape, and murder that cloud the safety of women in the state. The Women’s Wing demands immediate action from Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to protect the women.

Highlighting a recent molestation case involving a young man and three relatives in Una and another incident in Mandi where a primary school teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Singh criticized the government’s apathy. These cases have further intensified the BJP's claims that the existing government is failing to ensure women's safety.

Singh lambasted what she called the 'Mitron ke sarkar' (government of friends), referencing alleged favorable postings given to Chief Minister Sukhu's acquaintances and his wife's candidacy for a by-election. She argued that this form of governance has left ordinary people’s grievances unaddressed. Singh’s statement sends a strong call to action, demanding the government to prioritize women's safety and restore public confidence.
