Sikkim Government Declares Additional Saturdays as Holidays for Employees

The Sikkim government has announced that the second and fourth Saturdays of each month will be holidays for its employees. The decision aims to provide employees with additional rest. However, the government has also emphasized the importance of adhering to the designated working hours from 10 am to 4.30 pm to prevent developmental delays and public inconvenience.

The Sikkim government has declared that the second and fourth Saturdays of every month will be holidays for its employees. The directive, issued by the Department of Personnel on Thursday, aims to provide extra rest to the workforce.

The government also stressed the need for employees to adhere strictly to working hours, from 10 am to 4.30 pm, citing issues with late arrivals and early departures that hinder developmental policies and cause public inconvenience.

To enforce this, the government stated that half-day casual leave would be deducted for employees found arriving after 10.30 am or leaving before 4.30 pm without valid reasons. Departmental heads have been instructed to conduct surprise attendance checks to ensure compliance.
