Gaza ceasefire talks have been halted after three days of intense negotiations failed to produce a viable outcome, according to two Egyptian security sources who spoke to Reuters on Saturday. The sources blamed Israeli mediators for lacking a genuine intent to reach an agreement.
The sources indicated that Israel's behavior revealed 'internal discord.' They stated that the Israeli delegation would initially approve several conditions under discussion but later return with amendments or introduce new conditions that jeopardized the negotiations.
The sources added that these 'contradictions, delays in responses, and the introduction of new terms contrary to what was previously agreed' suggested the Israeli side viewed the talks as a mere formality aimed at influencing public opinion.
