Russia and Ukraine conducted a notable prisoner exchange on Wednesday, involving 190 individuals. This operation marks their third such swap in seven weeks, with negotiations mediated by the United Arab Emirates.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed gratitude to the UAE for its assistance in securing the release of 95 Ukrainian military personnel. Russia's defense ministry stated that the freed soldiers would undergo medical and psychological evaluations upon their return.
The Ukrainian Coordinating Committee on Dealing with Prisoners of War reported that Kyiv has secured the release of 3,405 individuals from Russian captivity since the February 2022 invasion. A video posted by the committee showed jubilant Ukrainian troops boarding buses and celebrating their return home.
