EU Commission to Provide €400 Million Financial Aid to Palestinian Authority
The European Commission has announced it will provide the Palestinian Authority with 400 million euros in emergency financial support over the next two months. The aid will be disbursed as grants and loans in three payments, from July to September, contingent on the progress of the Palestinian Authority's reform agenda.
The European Commission announced on Friday plans to provide the Palestinian Authority with 400 million euros ($435.5 million) in financial aid over the next two months. This move aims to support the Palestinian Authority amidst ongoing economic challenges.
The funds will be released as grants and loans over three payments scheduled between July and September. However, the disbursement is contingent on the Palestinian Authority showing progress in its reform agenda, according to the Commission.
The financial support represents a significant effort by the EU to stabilize the region, with each payment subject to assessment against predefined criteria of reform and development. Currently, $1 is equivalent to 0.9184 euros.
