778 Indian Students Return Home Amid Bangladesh Clashes

A total of 778 Indian students have returned from Bangladesh as clashes over a job-quota system escalate. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been coordinating with local and Indian authorities to ensure safe passage. More than 50 people have been killed in the protests.

Amid escalating clashes over a controversial job-quota system in Bangladesh, 778 Indian students have returned home, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday. The violent protests have claimed more than 50 lives so far.

The Indian missions in Bangladesh are actively coordinating with authorities to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals. The MEA confirmed that, in addition to the 778 students returning via land ports, about 200 others have taken regular flights from Dhaka and Chittagong airports.

Efforts to repatriate Indian nationals continue as approximately 15,000 Indians remain in Bangladesh. The Indian High Commission and assistant high commissions are facilitating their safe travel through various border crossing points. Security escorts and coordination with aviation and immigration authorities are also being provided.
