MSEDCL Engineer Arrested for Bribery in Palghar

An official of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), Assistant Engineer Sandeep Jawahar, was arrested for demanding and accepting an Rs. 8,000 bribe in Palghar. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) initiated the operation after a complaint was filed, and a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

An official from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, identified as Assistant Engineer Sandeep Jawahar, has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe in Vikramgad, Palghar district.

According to the ACB, Jawahar demanded Rs. 8,000 from a complainant who had applied for two electricity meters in his father's name. The bribe was solicited in exchange for approval of the meter installation.

The ACB laid a trap and captured Jawahar on Monday. It was later discovered that the engineer is also implicated in another bribery case in Chandrapur district. A case has been filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
