Supreme Court Flags Concerns Over Fraudulent Railway Appointments

The Supreme Court expressed surprise at the appointment of some Railway employees based on forged documents. The apex court underscored the need for stringent checks, highlighting the case of employees appointed on compassionate grounds with forged documents.

A bench led by Justices J K Maheshwari and Sanjay Karol reviewed the matter, emphasizing that fraudulent practices in one of India's largest employment sectors must not be overlooked. These employees were dismissed after their appointments were confirmed to be based on fabricated documents.
