President Murmu to Lead Governors' Conference on Key Reforms

President Droupadi Murmu will preside over a two-day conference of governors starting Friday, focusing on the implementation of new criminal laws, higher education reforms, and development in tribal areas.
This marks the first such conference under President Murmu's leadership, according to officials.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office, cabinet secretariat, and other central ministries will be in attendance.
The conference agenda includes the execution of three new criminal laws, higher education reforms, and the accreditation of universities, alongside development in tribal areas, aspirational districts, and border regions, officials stated.
The role of governors in initiatives such as 'MYBharat,' 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,' and 'Ek Vriksha Maa ke Naam,' as well as topics like natural farming and improving public connections, will also be on the table.
Governors will discuss these items in various breakaway groups, which will then present their findings in the concluding session attended by the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and other key participants.
