Militants Ambush Judges' Convoy in Restive Northwest Pakistan

Militants launched an attack on a convoy of judges in northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local police reported on Friday.
The convoy, which was traveling from Tank district courts to Dera Ismail Khan, came under ambush despite tight security arrangements. Police confirmed no casualties or injuries as the shootout between militants and law enforcement continues on Tank-DI Khan road.
This assault adds to an alarming series of terror attacks in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a report from the Interior Ministry, Pakistan experienced 1,514 terror attacks in 2023, resulting in 2,922 casualties. The report, presented to the National Assembly and mentioned by news portal The Nation, disclosed that 572 armed forces personnel were killed and 1,292 injured in these attacks. Covering statistics up to April 2024, the report detailed 561 attacks resulting in 167 security personnel and 118 civilian deaths.
