Amid severe weather events affecting various regions, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday urged the Modi government to promptly allocate more disaster management funds to states, ensuring no regional discrimination.

Kharge called for enhancements in disaster management practices and recommended adopting a scientific approach to develop robust policies for mitigating climate change impacts like floods, heavy rainfall, and droughts.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives in Uttarakhand due to cloudbursts and heavy rainfall, Kharge emphasized solidarity with the affected and assured that ongoing rescue efforts by the Army will offer necessary relief. Priyanka Gandhi also extended condolences and urged Congress workers to aid in relief operations.
