In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court made clear that citizens should not be subjected to bureaucratic runarounds in issues of life and liberty, underscoring constitutional guarantees. The apex court decisively rejected CBI and ED's objections concerning AAP leader Manish Sisodia's bail plea.
The court granted bail to Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy corruption and money laundering cases, emphasizing that making him approach lower courts again would be tantamount to injustice. The bench highlighted previous assurances given about the timely filing of prosecution complaints and charge sheets.
Reiterating the sanctity of judicial procedure, the Supreme Court invoked earlier promises to ensure a speedy trial and ruled out making Sisodia endure prolonged legal battles. The court cited Article 21 of the Constitution, affirming Sisodia's right to a prompt and fair trial.
