On Friday, the Supreme Court granted bail to senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who had been jailed for 17 months, and sharply criticized lower courts for depriving him of a speedy trial.
The apex court underscored that 'bail is the rule and jail is the exception,' urging trial and high courts to recognize this principle.
Sisodia, who was arrested in connection to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh, with conditions including surrendering his passport and reporting to the investigating officer twice a week.
