Viral Audio Exposes Policeman's Potato Bribe: Sub-Inspector Suspended

A Sub-Inspector from Uttar Pradesh was suspended after an audio clip of him demanding potatoes as a bribe went viral. The incident involved Sub-Inspector Ramkripal of the Chapunna outpost, and the suspension was ordered by Kannauj Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand. The preliminary investigation is underway.

A sub-inspector has been suspended after an audio recording of him allegedly demanding potatoes as a bribe to settle a case went viral on social media, confirmed a senior police officer on Saturday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar stated the audio indicated Sub-Inspector Ramkripal, in-charge of Chapunna outpost at Saurikh police station, was trying to solicit a bribe. A report was subsequently submitted by the Circle Officer of Chhibramau.

Following the release of the audio, Kannauj Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand promptly suspended Sub-Inspector Ramkripal. The recording revealed a negotiation wherein a man offered only two kilograms of potatoes, while Ramkripal insisted on five kilograms, even suggesting the remaining three kilograms be delivered later. A preliminary investigation has been launched by Circle Officer Kamlesh Kumar.
