A fratricidal shoot-out in Manipur's Tengnoupal district has left four armed men dead, police confirmed. The violent clash involved militants and village volunteers from the same community.
The incident, which occurred in the Molnom area, resulted in the deaths of a United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) militant and three village volunteers. Retaliatory actions included the torching of the UKLF self-styled chairman S S Haokip's residence.
Authorities suspect that control over levy in the Pallel area sparked the gunfight. Although security forces have conducted search operations, no arrests have been reported, and the situation remains under control. Ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kukis has claimed over 200 lives since last year, displacing thousands.
