Eleven Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) while attempting to cross into India through the international borders in West Bengal, Tripura, and Meghalaya, according to a BSF spokesperson on Sunday.
The detainees are under questioning and will soon be handed over to state police for further legal proceedings. Maintaining regular contact with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the BSF aims to resolve mutual issues, especially preventing atrocities against Indian nationals and minority communities in Bangladesh.
In response to the recent political changes in Bangladesh, the BSF has increased vigilance along the 4,096-km-long India-Bangladesh border. The South Bengal Frontier's Eastern Command ADG Ravi Gandhi chaired an operational conference to review the situation and prepare for Independence Day. Continuous collaboration with BGB has been emphasized to fortify border control and security.
