UAW Files Charges Against Trump and Musk Over Worker Intimidation
The United Auto Workers Union (UAW) has filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board against Donald Trump and Elon Musk for allegedly threatening workers. The charges follow a social media conversation where Trump praised Musk's approach to firing striking workers. The UAW condemned their actions as illegal and immoral.
The United Auto Workers Union (UAW) announced on Tuesday that it has filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) against former President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The charges allege that the two men attempted to threaten and intimidate workers.
The filing followed a two-hour conversation between Trump and Musk on the social media platform X, during which Trump commended Musk for his handling of striking workers. 'You're the greatest cutter,' Trump said, alluding to the termination of striking employees, an act that is illegal under federal law.
The UAW, which has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President, strongly condemned the actions of Trump and Musk as both illegal and disrespectful to the working class. UAW President Shawn Fain emphasized that the NLRB has limited power to sanction such unlawful labor practices, but favorable NLRB rulings could help in organizing efforts. Neither Trump, Musk nor their respective campaigns responded to requests for comment.
