Opposition Calls for Paramilitary Security After Hospital Vandalism

Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP has requested paramilitary security for the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospitals following vandalism during protests against the rape and murder of a doctor. He accused the local police of incompetence and alleged a conspiracy involving the riots. The TMC, however, has dismissed the allegations, deeming them a BJP plot.

In response to recent vandalism at RG Kar Medical College and Hospitals, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP has called for paramilitary security. Adhikari addressed his appeal to the Union home secretary, criticizing the local police for failing to protect the crime scene and the safety of hospital staff and patients. He accused the police of colluding with the rioters, citing their lack of timely intervention and subsequent tear gas deployment as a sham.

Adhikari stated that the early morning chaos appeared premeditated and requested the immediate deployment of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces to secure the area and preserve evidence for a thorough CBI investigation.

The TMC refuted Adhikari’s claims, with spokesperson Kunal Ghosh alleging that the BJP and CPI(M) conspired to create turmoil. He accused BJP leaders of exploiting the situation after facing electoral defeats in Bengal. The mayhem involved a mob invading the hospital, damaging the emergency room and other facilities amid a protest against the horrific crime.
