Netherlands PM Sees Positive Outcome from US Talks on Semiconductor Export Restrictions

The Netherlands' Prime Minister Dick Schoof expressed optimism about reaching a good outcome in talks with the United States regarding new export restrictions on semiconductor equipment to China. The US has urged the Netherlands to impose further limitations on its tech giant ASML's services to Chinese clients.

The Netherlands' Prime Minister Dick Schoof stated on Friday that he anticipates a positive outcome from the ongoing discussions with the United States concerning new export restrictions on semiconductor equipment to China. However, he did not provide further details.

The U.S. has been pressing the Netherlands to strengthen its restrictions, including measures that would limit ASML, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturing equipment maker, from servicing some of the equipment it has already sold to Chinese customers.

'I expect from all the negotiations that we are going to have a good result ... (for) the Dutch manufacturers,' Schoof said. Over time, both Dutch and U.S. governments have implemented gradual restrictions that prevent ASML from exporting the high-end range of its products to China.
