Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi has sharply criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following the alleged rape and murder of a medic in Kolkata.
Devi accused the state police of colluding with 'TMC goons' to destroy evidence, alleging a cover-up tied to the West Bengal government's mishandling of the case.
She condemned the lack of action against criminals while highlighting widespread protests and outrage sparked by the incident, which also involved vandalism at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The National Commission for Women pointed out significant lapses in security and investigation, noting the absence of security guards during the incident, leaving medical staff vulnerable.
