Mass Protest at Badlapur Over Alleged Child Assault

Thousands gathered at Badlapur station to protest the alleged sexual assault of two young girls by a school sweeper. While police struggled to control the crowd, state officials, including the Deputy CM, ordered actions against the school and police officers. Protesters demanded severe punishment for the accused.

Thousands of protesters blocked railway tracks at Badlapur station in Thane district on Tuesday, reacting to the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old girls by a school sweeper in the washroom.

Police employed cane-charging tactics to disperse protesters who had taken over the railway tracks and were throwing stones at the policemen. Incensed parents also vandalized the school building in outrage over the assault.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a special investigation team led by senior IPS officer Arti Singh to probe the case. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the case would be fast-tracked and all culprits brought to justice.
