A former deputy chief of staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was charged Tuesday with acting as an undisclosed agent of the Chinese government, according to federal prosecutors.
Linda Sun, who previously held numerous governmental posts in New York state before becoming a senior staff member for Hochul, was taken into custody with her husband at their $3.5 million Long Island home.
The FBI had searched the couple's residence in late July, but no details were released at that time.
