A video showing a man aggressively threatening officials after being caught stealing electricity has gone viral, causing widespread concern and debate on social media. However, the PTI Fact Check Desk has verified that the viral footage is not from India but Pakistan, dating back to an incident from four years ago.

Using tools like InVID and reverse image search, the PTI team identified the video's origin, which was uploaded on a Facebook page named 360digitaltv on August 6, 2020. Translations from Urdu to Hindi further affirmed that the event took place in Karachi.

Subsequent searches led to a report on Pakistani news website Siasat.pk, published on July 28, 2020, verifying that the man caught in the act of electricity theft resorted to threats rather than admitting his crime. The full fact-check report is available at PTI Fact Check's website.
