China has condemned the United States over a newly passed bill that aims to restrict business activities with Chinese biotech firms such as Wuxi AppTec and BGI. According to China’s foreign ministry, the legislation is a discriminatory measure against Chinese companies.
Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized during a press briefing that China urges the US to respect market principles and trade rules. Further, the US was advised to halt the advancement of the bill and to refrain from misusing various excuses to suppress Chinese companies.
The bill's passage is seen as part of ongoing tensions between the two nations regarding trade practices and market access.
