Private School Teacher Arrested for Misbehavior with Minor Student in Rourkela

The Odisha Police on Tuesday arrested a private school teacher in Rourkela city for allegedly 'misbehaving' with a minor girl student. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, became public after outraged parents staged a demonstration in front of the school, demanding immediate action against the accused, according to officials.

'He has been taken into custody and investigation is underway,' said Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirmal Chandra Mohapatra. 'The girl's statement will be recorded before a magistrate on Wednesday,' he added.

Balbir Singh, a member of the school's governing body, confirmed that the accused physical training (PT) teacher has been suspended. 'We will never tolerate any such activity. The law will take its own course,' Singh stated.
