Escalation in Beirut: The Wake of Destruction from Israeli Airstrikes
Recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in significant casualties, including children, particularly in Beirut's southern suburbs and the cities of Tyre and Baalbek. This escalation follows intensified conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah, with numerous operations and retaliations escalating hostilities in the region.
Recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have killed over 20 people, including several children, according to Lebanese authorities on Saturday. The bombardment ravaged the southern suburbs of Beirut and the coastal city of Tyre, where evacuation orders were lacking, resulting in seven deaths late Friday night.
Strikes on Saturday claimed 16 more lives near Baalbek. Over the past year, the conflict with Hezbollah has seen over 3,000 Lebanese fatalities and thousands more injured. The Israeli military did not comment on the latest escalation, which has seen intensified bombardments and Hezbollah's robust response.
Amidst the destruction, affected citizens like Hassan Hannawi struggled to salvage personal items from the rubble. Buildings have been reduced to ruins, a scene marked by Hezbollah's iconic yellow flags raised amidst the devastation.
