The crew members were in Fiji on a layover and had visited a nightclub prior to the incident. Virgin Australia quickly sent support to the area, though the airline did not disclose specific details regarding the incident.
Fiji is a well-known tourist hub, attracting visitors from countries like Australia, New Zealand, and North America. As of November, the island received over 76,000 visitors. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has yet to comment on the situation.
