Tensions Rise in Taiwan Strait Amid U.S. Naval Operations

China's military has closely monitored U.S. naval operations in the Taiwan Strait, raising concerns over regional security. Chinese officials claim the U.S. actions send wrong signals and increase risks, while the U.S. has yet to comment on the passage of its destroyer and survey ship.

China has intensified its vigilance over the Taiwan Strait as U.S. naval forces made their presence felt from February 10-12. According to state broadcaster CCTV, China's military organized both naval and air patrols to monitor the transit of an American destroyer and an oceanographic survey ship.

Spokesperson Colonel Li Xi of the military's Eastern Theatre expressed concerns over the United States' actions, stating that they send incorrect signals and heighten security threats. He emphasized that troops remain alert to defend national sovereignty, security, and ensure regional peace and stability.

The U.S. Navy has remained tight-lipped about their vessels' journey, marking the first such operation since President Donald Trump assumed office a month ago.
