In a statement made on Wednesday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot underlined Europe's significant role in ensuring security guarantees for Ukraine, even if the country's NATO membership is not immediately on the horizon.

Addressing foreign ministers from Ukraine and allied nations in Paris, Barrot highlighted that Europe must be part of any negotiations to end the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. He insisted that a just peace cannot be achieved without European involvement.

Barrot also emphasized the autonomy of Ukrainians in deciding the parameters of any peace accord, stating that it is their choice to shape the terms of the agreement.
