Southeast Asia Unites Against Online Scam Trafficking

Thai authorities are repatriating 260 victims of human trafficking trapped in Southeast Asian online scam networks. In collaboration with Myanmar, the country is tackling scam centres operated by criminal syndicates. The crackdown has led to the repatriation of affected individuals from various nationalities.

Thai authorities, in a coordinated effort with Myanmar, are working to repatriate around 260 people who fell prey to human trafficking networks operating online scam centers in Southeast Asia.

These victims, hailing from over 20 countries, were rescued from areas controlled by ethnic militias that exploit weak governance to engage in various criminal enterprises.

Numbers of scam victims repatriated are increasing, and Thai officials remain committed to working with neighboring countries to dismantle these illicit operations while addressing further humanitarian needs.
