A Goa court has pronounced a guilty verdict in the horrific case of Danielle McLaughin, an Irish-British national who was raped and murdered in 2017.

Vikat Bhagat, the 31-year-old local resident, stood accused as the sole perpetrator of both heinous crimes. Judge Kshama Joshi of the District and Sessions Court in Margao town found him guilty, as stated by Vikram Varma, attorney for the victim's mother, Andrea Brannigan.

The court is slated to announce Bhagat's sentence on Monday, February 17. Meanwhile, the public prosecutor has petitioned for the maximum sentence to be imposed on the convicted.
