UAE's Role in Ukrainians' Return from Russian Captivity

The UAE has been instrumental in facilitating the return of Ukrainians deported during the ongoing war. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized UAE's commitment to peaceful resolutions and humanitarian efforts.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy engaged in discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focusing on the repatriation of Ukrainians held in Russian captivity. The meeting, documented by the state news agency WAM, took place in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE has emerged as a pivotal actor in facilitating the return of Ukrainians who had been deported to Russia amidst a protracted conflict spanning nearly three years. Many of these individuals are children. Zelenskiy emphasized that the primary goal of his visit was ensuring the return of more Ukrainians from captivity.

Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE's commitment to support a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Ukraine conflict. Meanwhile, U.S. and Russian officials are scheduled to convene in Saudi Arabia to initiate talks aimed at resolving the war.
