Middle Eastern Leaders Convene on Gaza: Proposals and Challenges

Egyptian President Sisi and other Middle Eastern leaders recently met in Riyadh to discuss alternatives to U.S. proposals for Gaza. In an effort to address the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi participated in a high-profile meeting with Gulf Arab states and Jordan in Riyadh. The gathering aimed to discuss U.S. President Donald Trump's controversial proposals for redeveloping Gaza.

The discussions focused on exploring alternatives to Trump's resort plan and the possibility of Egypt and Jordan hosting resettled Gaza Palestinians. Both nations are cautious due to national security concerns and have yet to present a solid counter-plan. Despite this, Arab countries are actively seeking solutions.

Chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the meeting saw attendance from key Middle Eastern figures, including Jordan's King Abdullah and Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim. An Egyptian proposal with potential $20 billion Gulf and Arab funding was reportedly a topic of interest, emphasizing regional collaboration.
