Delhi Legislative Assembly Kicks Off: Key Elections and Reports Set Stage

The eighth Delhi Legislative Assembly session begins with newly elected members taking oath and the proposal for BJP MLA Vijender Gupta as Speaker. Over three days, the election of key positions and tabling of CAG reports on previous governance will occur. The BJP holds a majority over AAP.

The eighth session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly is set to commence on Monday, kicking off with the oath-taking of newly elected members. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will spearhead a motion to nominate BJP MLA Vijender Gupta as the Speaker of the House.

In preparation, a pivotal meeting of BJP Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will occur at the party's Delhi headquarters on Sunday, where members will be briefed on House conduct and procedural norms, according to party leaders.

This significant three-day session will not only elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker but also introduce 14 critical CAG reports scrutinizing past governance by the AAP. The session will also include an address by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and subsequent discussions on the tabled reports.
