The incident occurred on Sunday at dawn, as the jawan confronted a group of four to five individuals attempting to smuggle 787 bottles of banned cough syrup to Bangladesh. The syrup, Phensedyl, is noted for its alcohol content.
In the ensuing scuffle, one smuggler was injured and later hospitalized for treatment. The BSF statement outlined the swift measures taken by their personnel, who were successful in seizing the contraband goods and deterring the smuggling attempt.
