In a recent statement from Brussels, Germany has expressed its skepticism towards the issuance of joint eurobonds. The country, however, remains open to the idea of cooperative financing if it is directed towards specific European defense projects, according to Finance Minister Joerg Kukies.
During discussions, Kukies made it clear that Germany is not in favor of raising debt to fund 27 distinct procurement projects. The focus, he suggested, should be on supporting initiatives that promote concrete defense objectives across Europe.
This stance highlights the ongoing debate within the European Union on the best approaches to finance common projects while maintaining fiscal responsibility among member states.
