The civil defence directorate conducted the test atop a PWD building, lasting 10 to 15 minutes, catching many locals by surprise. For shopkeeper Namantullah, 21, it was an unsettling experience reminiscent of war anecdotes shared by older generations.

With plans to install more sirens across the city, amid tensions and skirmishes between India and Pakistan, authorities are taking precautions to keep citizens informed and safe during potential emergencies.
