Chhattisgarh Clerk Nabbed in Bribery Sting

A Chhattisgarh government clerk was arrested for allegedly accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe. Chavaram Banjare, from the Medical Education Commissionerate, demanded money to release dues of a retired lab technician. Action was taken following a complaint and the clerk was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In a significant crackdown on corruption, a Chhattisgarh government clerk was apprehended on Monday for allegedly accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe, according to an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official. The incident unfolded in Raipur district, marking another stride in the battle against bribery.

The accused, Chavaram Banjare, employed as a clerk at the Commissionerate of Medical Education in Nava Raipur, reportedly demanded the sum in connection with releasing the general provident fund (GPF) and other dues of a retired lab technician. The complaint by the aggrieved technician set the ACB into swift action.

Upon verification of the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught Banjare red-handed while accepting the bribe. He was promptly arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, reinforcing the commitment to eradicating corruption.
