Congress Investigates Rising Crimes Against Women in Odisha

The Congress on Thursday announced the formation of a five-member fact-finding team to address the rising incidents of atrocities against women in Odisha following a recent gang rape case. The team, comprised of influential women leaders, aims to submit a comprehensive report on the worrisome situation.

This initiative follows the horrific rape of a college student at Gopalpur, a popular tourist destination. Congress general secretary K C Venugopal highlighted the surge in cases, including the alarming number of missing women, while urging immediate action.

All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba criticized the Odisha BJP government for its inability to curb such crimes. During a press conference, she emphasized the high number of rape cases, expressing outrage at the prevailing situation and questioning the criminals' audacity.
