The inspector-in-charge at Bhograi Police Station in Balasore, Odisha, faced suspension on Thursday due to alleged dereliction of duty. This decision came shortly after MP Pratap Sarangi's visit, where he raised concerns about a man being chained without an official case filed.
A disciplinary note from DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania stated that Sriballav Sahu, the officer in question, was suspended for his gross misconduct. The order specified that during his suspension, Sahu would be under the disciplinary oversight of the DIG of police for the eastern range.
Sarangi criticized the police, describing the incident as an 'uncivilized tradition,' alleging that the man's detention followed a motorcycle dispute. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
