The Netherlands and 40 other OSCE member states have formally requested an independent investigation into the alleged torture and mistreatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces. This was disclosed by Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp on social media platform X.
The action, called the 'Moscow Mechanism', is a collaborative effort by these nations to ensure truth-finding and hold Russia accountable for its alleged war crimes in Ukraine. Veldkamp emphasized the significance of this initiative in seeking justice.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), comprising 57 countries including former Cold War adversaries the United States and Russia, as well as other nations from Europe, Central Asia, and North America, has taken a clear stance in response to these serious allegations.
