An explosion in a northern Syrian ammunition depot on Thursday claimed at least seven lives and left scores injured, according to rescue teams and monitors.
The blast occurred in Idlib province, yet officials have not released any information on the cause. Monitors from the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights identified the site as an ammunition depot.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Civil Defence, or White Helmets, confirmed the depot location and is actively involved in rescuing victims and dousing the fire. Continuous blasts complicate their efforts as stated by Raed al-Saleh, Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management.
