Maharashtra's Advocate General Steps Down Amidst Personal Reasons

Advocate General Birendra Saraf of Maharashtra submitted his resignation for personal reasons, with acceptance confirmed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In a significant development, Maharashtra's Advocate General, Birendra Saraf, has decided to resign due to personal reasons, as announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Despite his resignation, Saraf will continue to serve as Advocate General until January 2026, giving the government ample time to find a suitable replacement for this crucial legal position.

Appointed in December 2022, Saraf has handled several high-profile cases, such as the Maratha reservation and Badlapur school sexual assault cases, during his almost 25-year career at the Bombay High Court.
