Nagaland is making strides towards obtaining Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus status, according to state minister Jacob Zhimomi. Speaking in Dimapur during the Swachh Bharat Diwas event, Zhimomi detailed the state's achievements in sanitation.
The minister noted that Nagaland has built over 9,000 household toilets, leading to the state's recognition as ODF on October 2, 2018, ahead of the national goal set for 2019. He highlighted the visible impact of these initiatives across districts.
Zhimomi emphasized the need for collective participation, expert guidance, and consultancy to achieve ODF-Plus status. He lauded the efforts of the Public Health Engineering Department in policy implementation and improving rural sanitation and health, while Mission Director Er Gwatilo Tep stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and dignity through the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen.
