Conversion Controversy: Local Arrested in Religious Dispute

Vinod Kumar, a 48-year-old man, has been arrested for allegedly luring people into converting to Christianity with promises of money, jobs, and accommodation, while instigating the destruction of Hindu idols. The arrest followed a complaint and evidence collected by the police led to his detainment.

A middle-aged man, identified as Vinod Kumar, has been apprehended by local authorities on charges of religious conversion under dubious means. This follows accusations of enticing locals with financial incentives and employment opportunities to switch to Christianity.

The complaint, filed by VHP's district president Rajiv Singh, further alleges that Kumar encouraged the destruction of religious idols. The local police, upon investigation, have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.

According to Station Officer Hitesh Kumar, the police, in a swift operation, arrested Kumar from his residence, finding incriminating evidence such as a Bible, old notebooks, and banners. Kumar has since been remanded in custody, awaiting further proceedings.
