The Syrian Defence Ministry had repositioned troops along several fronts with the Kurdish-led group in northeast Syria, clarifying that this move was meant to deter SDF's territorial advances. Clashes had overshadowed a March agreement meant to incorporate the SDF into Syria's government entities.

Despite the ceasefire, sporadic clashes persist, with both groups blaming each other for provocations. Regional dynamics remain tense as the U.S. and Turkey press the Kurds to join a unified Syrian state under conditions that satisfy involved parties.
