In a decisive security operation, Assam Rifles apprehended two Myanmar-based militants on October 18 in Manipur's Chandel district, near the strategic Sajik Tampak area.
The operation effectively thwarted a cross-border militant movement along the sensitive India-Myanmar frontier. The suspects are identified as members of the United Tribal Volunteers Group.
This arrest comes amid ongoing ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023, causing over 260 fatalities and leaving thousands homeless.
