Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced plans to draft a new Detailed Project Report for the Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir, succeeding the Supreme Court's verdict deeming Tamil Nadu's objection as premature.
Following discussions with the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Board directed by CM Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar revealed the project office in Harobele has begun operations, with additional offices set to open in Ramanagara.
The Mekedatu project, essential for drinking water and power in Karnataka, faces opposition from Tamil Nadu, concerned about its potential impacts. Yet, the Supreme Court outlines that the project will progress after considering all objections and expert evaluations.
