BJP Leader Questions Delay in Sexual Harassment Complaint Against MLA

BJP leader R Sreelekha criticized the delay in filing a sexual harassment complaint against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil. Sreelekha and other political figures demanded his resignation, questioning why no earlier action was taken. The incident is tied to broader political discourse involving the BJP, Congress, and UDF.

BJP leader R Sreelekha on Friday expressed her concern over the delay in lodging a sexual harassment complaint against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil. She showed her support for the survivor in a Facebook post, criticizing the lack of prompt action in such serious allegations.

Sreelekha, running in the local body elections in Thiruvananthapuram, questioned why the complainant approached the Chief Minister directly and speculated whether it gave Mamkoottathil time to secure anticipatory bail. She urged other victims to come forward.

The LDF and BJP accused Congress and UDF of protecting Mamkoottathil, while CPM's M V Govindan demanded his resignation. Former BJP state president K Surendran and leader C Krishnakumar asserted that Mamkoottathil received help to evade arrest, alleging police inaction.
