Pakistan on Friday voiced strong condemnation of a tragic shooting incident involving two US National Guard soldiers, carried out by an Afghan national in Washington, DC. The Foreign Office (FO) described the event as a 'troubling resurgence' of terrorism, expressing condolences to the victims' families and extending solidarity with the United States.
The FO's statement labeled the attack an act of terrorism with significant implications for global security, noting Pakistan's own experiences with similar terrorist activities linked to Afghanistan over the past two decades.
In light of this incident, the FO reiterated the necessity for international cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts, urging the global community to strengthen collective actions against this threat. The accused, Afghan immigrant Rahmanullah Lakanwal, allegedly shot West Virginia National Guard members, resulting in the death of US Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom.
